What is a Parish Nurse? A Registered Nurse who facilitates the holistic health of a congregation and in so doing reclaims the healing ministry of the Church. The Parish Nurse focuses of the spiritual, emotional and physical dimensions of persons as they strive to achieve wellness and to manage their illness. The Parish Nurse develops a practice in response to the unique needs and counselor, a referral agent and an advocate. A Parish Nurse is a trusted provider of health promotion/prevention services seated in faith community and positioned to draw on resources of individuals, community, and related institutions. A Parish Nurse provides a cadre of services, including, but not limited to, health education, personal health, mobilizes congregations and community resources, and enhances the spiritual resources of the community.
